the ubiquitous sampaguita, national flower, symbol of purity.
What flower is identified with the Philippines, as cherry blossoms are with Japan??
thanks! Report It
Reply:Sampaguita
Reply:i would say it%26#039;s waling waling, even if it is not the national flower (it is the sampaguita.)
waling waling is highly identified with the Philippines, being indigenous to the famed Mt. Apo in Mindanao.
Reply:I must say it%26#039;s sampaguita - the little white and fragrant flower.
Reply:sampaguita.
Reply:sampaguita but it should be waling-waling (an orchid that can be found only at Mount Apo, the tallest mountain in the Philippines)
Another fact that Philippines and Indonesia have the same national flower. ^_^
Reply:Sampaguita which they call it Jasmine.
Reply:it is CHICHARON BULAKLAK, the National heart-stopper.
Reply:Chicharong Bulaklak?......... Sampaguita pala!
Reply:The SAMPAGUITA which is a sign of purity and is also known as the jasmine(scientifically known as jasminum sambac)
If you wanna know more about it go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasminum_sa...
Reply:The Sampaguita, a white sweet smelling flower is what is identified with the Philippines. It is the Philippines National Flower.
Before, the WALING WALING, a variety of orchids was also identified with the Philippines. However, now the WALING WALING has been bred and cultured in other parts of South East Asia, specially in Singapore.affiliate

Gift for parents of the ring bearer and flower girls?
I was just wondering if I should give a gift to the parents of the child attendants in my wedding? The parents of the ring bearer are in the wedding, so they will already be getting gifts from us, but my flowers girls%26#039; parents are not... should I get them a gift to thank them for letting the girls be in the wedding? I didn%26#039;t know if this was proper or not.
Gift for parents of the ring bearer and flower girls?
I was given a framed photograph by the bridal couple of my son and the two of them, when he was the ring bearer in their wedding, his father was a groomsman, he received a gift, but of course I was not expecting a gift. I was not in the wedding. It is a lovely gesture, but no, you are not obligated to give the parents of the flower girl a gift.
Reply:gift card 25$ each to toy r%26#039; us or Limited Too and/or kid goody bag something to do with hannah montana or craft kit for girls.
what about a silver bracelet with a heart and their names or intial engraved. and with wedding date/names...
Reply:The parents of the Flower Girl(s) are not members of your wedding party so there is no need to buy them a gift.

Reply:Its proper as it is a token of appreciation.
You can give them a photo album complete with pictures of girls.
It acts as a momento too.

What flower do you find interesting?
I like Livingstone Daisey%26#039;s. When the sun is out the open up and then when the sun goes down they close.
What flower do you find interesting?
Of any flower, almost any orchid; although, I%26#039;m not very good at growing them.
Of the plants I have successfully grown -- a like Dragon%26#039;s Arum. It%26#039;s a large, dark bloom unlike anything else I%26#039;ve seen in the area. The entire plant is 2-3%26#039; tall and the bloom itself reaches between 9-12%26quot; and lasts for a couple of weeks.

If you have ever experienced a moon flower opening up at dusk and the sweet smell erupts as the flower expands in front of your eyes....it is the most awesome display. When fully open it can up to 8 inches across and literally glows in the moonlight. Your whole yard has sweet perfume smell.
My aunt gave me a couple seeds a couple years ago and I have been captivated my them ever since.
Warning....seeds and plants are highly poisonous. If you have small kids or pets do not grow or keep in fenced area.

My flower horn always stays at the bottom with head downward. not so active. is it sick? wat's are posb. cure
its already big, about 5%26quot; length. my water is about 3 weeks old and with water filter with carbon on it to make it clear. i feed frozen shrimp, quarantend live fish and feeds sometime. i just bought large worms to feed it also. the space is enough for the flowerhord to swim around.
My flower horn always stays at the bottom with head downward. not so active. is it sick? wat%26#039;s are posb. cure
Maybe because nitrogen accumulation or fin and hole in the head disease you can buy antiseptic medicine from aquarium shop nearby your house.I have 5 flower horn fish also.I used to feed them with tablet food (the food brand is SUPER RED) and their body colouration are very beautiful with a large head bump.I would suggest you feeding the fish with dry food as it is more save to the fish health. And also try to change the water twice a month for the best outcome.Try it and if the fish still not well try to bring the fish to aquarium shop for further treatment.
Reply:Its normal for a flowerhorn to sometimes stay like that and it has nothing yet to do with any disease, hole in the head is something the other answerer has no idea about, but follow these points very carefully and nothing will go wrong with your fish..
1. Keep an airstone in the tank.
2. DO NOT overfeed the fish, feed it twice a day
3. Keep water temperature between 26-28 degee C, thats the best temp for flowers..
4. DO NOT feed live fish, even quarentined ones will carry disease
5. Try to use a external filter rather than an internal one, if your budget permits.
6. Do 25% water change every week
Reply:you shouldnt go 3 weeks without a water change.
do around 25% a week, see if that helps.genealogy mormon

What is a very unusual flower that i could use as a flower for texas????
Dolochos lablab, the Purple Hyacinth Bean. Grows as an annual there, can go to 15%26#039; in a season in the Dallas area. Very nice flowers, seed pods are also decorative and purple.
Passiflora is another good vine, many of them are hardy in most of Texas. Different varieties can be blue, purple, bright red.
If you have enough water, Crambe. If you barely freeze, Echium wildpretii.
For unusual seeds, try Chiltern Seeds. For unusual plants, I like Logee%26#039;s Nursery and Plant Delights Nursery, all on the web.

My flower horn (Fe-male) had lay eggs without the presence of the male, will they hatch or not ,what can I do?
They will not be fertilised. A male must be present to fertilise the eggs as they are laid. They will either fungus or the female will eat them.
My flower horn (Fe-male) had lay eggs without the presence of the male, will they hatch or not ,what can I do?
With out the male fertilizing the eggs they will not hatch, if the eggs turn white, it means that they are dead. most likely the flowerhorn will eat them. too bad you dont have a male, you could make alot of money selling flowerhorns.White Teeth

Landscaping: I am about to re-do the flower bed in front of my home.?
We prefer flowering shrubs of some kind. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Landscaping: I am about to re-do the flower bed in front of my home.?
If your home faces north, Azaleas are beautiful, along with Rhododendrons, and Pieris.
If it faces another direction, Lilacs, Spireas, Hibiscus, Hydrangea, Mountain Ash, and many more...
A good place to see different varieties:
http://springhillnursery.com/category.as...
Reply:It depends on where you are. If you%26#039;re in Arizona or a very warm climate, oleanders are beautiful year round and they flower. They also grow quickly and come in 2 or 3 different colors.
If you live in the Midwest, then I would suggest rhododendrens or azaleas. They both bloom in the spring and are gorgeous.
Here in Missouri everyone is going crazy over %26quot;knock out roses.%26quot; They%26#039;re maintenance free compared to regular roses, bloom all summer, and are bushy. The blooms are not like a regular rose, and they%26#039;re very easy to take care of. They love sun and grow fast.
Good luck!
Reply:rose-of-sharons are beautiful and bloom for quite awhile in summer. they come in at least three different colors that I know of. white with pink centers, pink with dark pink centers and blue, probably with pink centers.

Reply:In Las Vegas, I have had excellent luck with climbing roses and rose shrubs.skin disease

How do i keep cut flowers fresh besides adding flower food in the vase?
Snip the ends and put sugar or asprin in the water.. keep the water fresh weekly. cool water.. not too cold. keep them by sun light in an airy area.
How do i keep cut flowers fresh besides adding flower food in the vase?
when you first get them, Snip off 1/2 inch from bottom and add the food into the vase, then each day add frest water and remove the dead/dying buds i would snip another 1/2 inch off the bottom each day too. Oh and don%26#039;t put them near direct sun, they wont last as long in heat.
Reply:clip the stems at an angle and keep clipping them every other day
Reply:Change the water every other day and snip about 1/2%26quot; off the stems each time.books authors

Is flower and shrubs growing solution for pure air in the city?
People and the policy maker have started saying that growing of trees has a detrimental effect on development
Is flower and shrubs growing solution for pure air in the city?
Well, of course they will be helpful, but the larger the plant the more oxygen produced and the cleaner the air. I don%26#039;t see how growing trees has a detrimental effect unless you mean on the development of new cities, roads, and neighborhoods.
If this is the case then I guess some priorities are a little messed up and the growing of flowers and shrubs may be your best option.
Good Luck

Plants Clean Pollutants From The Air... Make Sick Buildings Healthy
In the early 1970%26#039;s, NASA identified 107 volatile and potentially dangerous gases in its Sky Lab III space flights. Dr. B. C. Wolverton senior research scientist at NASA who spearheaded the project recently said, %26quot;Our research of nearly 20 years has shown that plant leaves, roots and soil bacteria can dramatically reduce levels of toxic vapors
Much as a space shuttle, tightly sealed buildings %26quot;retain%26quot; toxic gases. The result is polluted indoor air, a condition called %26quot;sick building%26quot; syndrome. Nearly 2 decades of NASA tests reveal that living green and flowering plants clean pollutants from the air, can makes sick buildings healthy.
Some Plants Clean Better Than Others
NASA tests prove that many frequently used indoor plants reduce certain toxic chemicals in the air dramatically...by 80 and even 90%.

Trees produce oxygen. That is why the depletion of the Rain Forest could be devastating to this planet. Some cities have air that is too polluted to grow healthy trees, plants, or other living things including people.

DIY flower centerpieces HELP?
ok, so i have 250 roses, rose petals, a ton of mason jars, fabric, and ribbon. please help me come up some creative ideas for centerpieces. be very detailed please.
i posted this in weddings but got no help :( hopefully there are some more creative people over here...
DIY flower centerpieces HELP?
Why not just add colouring to the water, place the roses (add some greenery and/or grasses). Tie matching or contrasting ribbon around the mason jar. Put the mason jar on a mirror and sprinkle rose petals on the mirror.
One tip, make sure the jars are well filled and that the flowers are not too tall for the jars.visual arts

Need flower help!?
my wedding is going to be black and white w/ an accent of hot pink. my bridesmaids will wear black w/ maybe a white sash..idk yet..
i want to use gerber daisies. and i am in love w/ the hot pink ones w/ the black centers or the fuschia ones! i was thinking of my bridemaids carrying just a handtied bouquet of hot pink gerbers and then i carry a bouquet of hot pink and ivory gerbers. what do u think??? im really hooked on the pink..even if you think i should go w/ a lighter shade of pink let me know! itz an october wedding but i dont want to use red or orange or yellow!
Need flower help!?
I love gerber daisies so I love the idea. I am seeing a lot of the lighter pink Gerber%26#039;s but I like the hot pink ones better. I haven%26#039;t seen hot pink and ivory gerber bouquets but I%26#039;ve seen hot pink Gerber%26#039;s with ivory roses. I don%26#039;t think that would be as cute. I have some links for you though. I think there is one where the light pink is so light it almost looks like an off white color but you might have to go to a florist and scope some out sense colors will look different on different computer screens.
I would say just keep the BM%26#039;s a little smaller than yours and do the full on white and hot pink bouquet for you. I can%26#039;t find ivory Gerber%26#039;s anywhere. I think the white would look just as good and would actually give more contrast. To be sure though I would still go to a good florist and have them show you there Gerber selections. If they are good at what they do then they should be able to make you a small mockup of what it would look like if they did it. Most have all the flowers they need in their own nurseries.
Hope that helped!!! Congrats!

What's the difference between a flowering plant and a flower?
A flowering plant is a plant that produces a flower once then dies(annual) once a year (perrenial) or once every two years (bi-annual). The flower is the part of the plant that usually contains the parts for sexual reproduction (stamen/pistol) A flowering plant is made up of the flower, stem, roots (basically).
They differ from conifers because they are deciduous (loose leaves).
Conifers (evergreens) keep their leaves and produce cones.
What%26#039;s the difference between a flowering plant and a flower?
one is the plant itself , the other is the flower on the plant
Reply:Botanically speaking, a flower is only a part of a plant. It%26#039;s not the plant itself, just like a leaf or stem is only a part of the plant. rose = flower. rose shrub = flowering plant.
Think also of the cut flowers you see at the stores, the plant from which they were cut from are flowering plants.
Technically, most plants do flower but some are just more showy than others. For example, you would definitely notice a lilac shrub in flower but wouldn%26#039;t notice a boxwood in flower.
Reply:a flowering plant provides you with alot of green foilage for most of it%26#039;s life ie a rose bush. a flower is a plant that has some foliage but mostly a flower ie--a sunflower
Reply:A flowering plant is a plant that during some stage of of its life produces flowers.
The flower is the part that it is produced during the reproductive cycle of the plant
However, what to an observer looks like a flower, to be calcified as such, the female part of the flower must consist of at least a pistil, inside which the ovules will develop into seeds.

Red Dragon Flower Horn?
I just bought a Red Dragon FlowerHorn Fish from the store..its still a little lad..anyone know how to take care of it and make its head big?
Red Dragon Flower Horn?
There are several ways that you increase the size of the nuchal hump on your Red Dragon Flower Horn. One way is buying Flower Horn Floating Pellets. The high lipid(fat) content has a beneficial influence on the growth of the attractive nuchal hump (humped forehead). Also keeping in a tank by itself can increase the size and color of your Flower Horn.
Mostly it depends on the quality of the fish, if the fish was sold at a high price most likely the strain and genes will create a large nuchal hump.
Also the nuchal hump can shrink or be stunted do to stress such as, water changes in temp and PH. Prevent any large changes in water within a few days and feed it Flower Horn Floating Pellets and your Red Dragon Flower Horn should grow a nice nuchal hump.
Hope that Helped, plz Send Feedback!
Reply:Keep it in a tank big enough to grow into (start with at least 30 gallons, expect to upgrade to 75 gallons). Feed it a high quality cichlid pellet, which you can supplement with fresh foods like krill, shrimp, prawns, worms, etc. Keep the water clean by doing partial water changes every week.
That%26#039;s it. Don%26#039;t worry about the hump - this is something that grows more as the fish matures, and it takes many years to develop those massive humps you may have seen in pictures. If you want to have your FH big and impressive, you need to be in it for the long haul - they live many years.super nanny

Why the flower show at lalbagh, bangalore attracted the huge crowd this year, which is a record?
since it is a garden city and many miles above sea level , it has the privilege of having wonder flowers from rose to dahlias which is simply exotic .
Why the flower show at lalbagh, bangalore attracted the huge crowd this year, which is a record?
The main thing was that they recreated the Taj Mahal at lal bagh ,banglore and the taj was made of more then 60,000 roses.

Do sun flower seeds make parrots blind if thy eat too much, or is that another seed?

Do sun flower seeds make parrots blind if thy eat too much, or is that another seed?
haven%26#039;t heard that one.. but it%26#039;s not sunflower seed. Mine get it freely within their diet, and have lived many many years so far!!
Reply:no I do noth think so however , parrots love them and they get hooked on them but ther are very bad for their liver and can kill him
Reply:Vitamin A is one of the fat-soluble vitamins. It is an antioxidant, helps in the growth and repair of tissues, and is important for proper functioning of the eyes, hearing, skin, bones, and mucus membranes.
Reply:Sunflower seeds will not blind your bird. I think you%26#039;ve heard a false rumor.
The Vitamin I believe you are looking for is Vitamin A, which is good for the eyes. I suppose if you didn%26#039;t give your bird any Vitamin A or way, way too much, you could blind it, but that would need to be pretty extreme cases (like you were feeding it pills or something).
Here%26#039;s some info on cockatiel diets (which can pretty much be applied to all small parrots):

Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt, 9 patch. Does anyone know where I can get this pattern?
A Grandmother%26#039;s Flower Garden quilt is a hexagon quilt - one made entirely of hexagon shaped pieces. A nine patch is a different thing entirely, made from square pieces. I suppose you could mimic the Grandmother%26#039;s Flower Garden with squares rather than hexagons, using a single color in the center of the nine patch, another color for the outer squares, and a third color to sash the blocks.
The Grandmother%26#039;s Flower Garden quilt uses templates to cut gazillions (an approximate number!) of hexagon shaped pieces. You press in the seam allowances and hand stitch the pieces together. It%26#039;s great for working on a bit at a time, as you%26#039;re waiting at the dentist%26#039;s office, on break at work, etc. Color placement is key - for a traditional flower garden look, you need to make rounds of color - a center of yellow, for example, surrounded by a circle of pink, surrounded by a circle of blue, etc., to give a flower shape. Traditionally, the paths between the flowers are green or white. The first link has instructions for this quilt.
A nine patch is the basis for many quilt blocks. It can easily be done either by machine or by hand. Strip piecing on the machine (sew long strips together, then cut them into smaller sections, then sew them together) can make it easier. The second link below has another shortcut for making two nine patches that are reversed (light dark light in one block, and dark light dark in the other). The third link shows how to strip piece nine patch blocks. The fourth link is to a traditional method where you cut out the squares first, then sew them together individually.

Seasonal wedding flower designs?
Here is a site that might help: http://www.wedding-flowers-guide.com/sea...
My feeling is to choose what flowers you like and then call a florist to see if they are in season instead of wondering if a particular flower is popular for a particular season. Use your favorites and don%26#039;t worry about if other people think they fit another season better (though they do need to be orderable). I did sunflowers and gerbera daisies because they are my favorites.
If you don%26#039;t have a favorite flower, you could call/go to a florist and ask what they recommend or go on some websites like theknot.com and see what other brides do. You can also do something %26quot;different%26quot; like grasses or cattails if you don%26#039;t want to do flowers. Dried flowers can also be excellent keepsakes. I personally don%26#039;t like artificials, but those may be nice if you get high quality ones.

How many flower a bee has to visit to make one spoon of honey?
Not certain of an answer for your question; however, maybe this will help:
According to the PBS program Nova, Tales From the Hive, a female worker Honey Bee will produce 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in her 30-day lifetime. In each collecting trip, she will visit 50 to 100 flowers to load up at least half her body weight in pollen and nectar to bring back to the hive. At this rate, to make one pound of honey, a hive’s workers will fly some 55,000 miles (generally within a 3.5 mile radius of the hive) making about two million flower visits.skin disease

When the flower dies on my orchid what do I do to get it to bloom again. This is my first one & I know nothing
i think your best bet is to check out a website for orchid growers. they%26#039;re very temperamental flowers. i have a friend who owns an orchid nursery but it would take to long to get an answer from them.
When the flower dies on my orchid what do I do to get it to bloom again. This is my first one %26amp; I know nothing
Orchids typically bloom once a year. In the mean time, you need to give your plant optimum water, humidity and fertilizer
You need to check out a site that specializes in orchids..
Good Luck!!
Reply:It has to do with the weather where i live the plants that bloomed are drying up. You should still take care of it though it will get better.make up

I planted some seeds but only one type of flower is coming up! Can anyone tell me why?
i planted some seeds about 2 weeks ago like sweet pea flowers,
sunfowers, daisys, straflowers, morning glorys, and moonflowers. The only place where anything is coming up is where iplanted the morning glorys and moonflowers. Why isn%26#039;t anything else coming up. help!!!
I planted some seeds but only one type of flower is coming up! Can anyone tell me why?
1. different plants have different germination times. Be patient.
2. different plants have different soil needs. Perhaps some of the seeds couldn%26#039;t get the proper nutrient for them to grow.
3. different plants need different sun conditions.
4. Some seeds could be dead, won%26#039;t germinate.
5. Some plant seeds need different procedures for planting. (ex. scarifying, kept very moist with high humidity, etc.)
6. You planted them too deep.
